Happy Thanksgiving!

November 17th, 2015

The first Thanksgiving occurred in 1621 between the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag Indians when they joined together to enjoy a feast of the autumn harvest. Though a thanksgiving continued to be celebrated by individual colonies and states, it was not until 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day be held each November. And so on the fourth Thursday in November, we gather around tables with our families and friends to give thanks, and share in a feast of delicious foods. After which most partake in a long nap, or enjoy one of many football games on television.

Thanksgiving has also become known as the beginning of the holiday season. The day after, now referred to as “black Friday”, is said to be the biggest holiday shopping day of the year.

Whether it’s the food, the shopping, the football, or just enjoying spending time with family and friends, Thanksgiving continues to be a revered tradition.

The Patriot Timber Products family would like to wish everyone a safe and very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.
