Stewardship Council –
FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not for
profit organization established to promote the
responsible management of the world’s forests.
FSC has offices in more than 46 countries. It
provides standard setting, trademark assurance
and accreditation services for companies and organizations
interested in responsible forestry.
Tropical Forest Foundation
– The TFF’s primary mission is to
promote sustainable tropical forestry management
by gathering and disseminating information about
its benefits and by demonstrating and teaching
proper management practices.
Forest Stewardship Council – USA – The Forest
Stewardship Council is an international non-profit
organization founded in 1993 to support environmentally
appropriate, socially beneficial and economically
viable management of the world’s forests.
Its members include representatives from environmental
and social groups, the timber trade and the forestry
profession, indigenous people’s organizations,
community forestry groups and forest product certification
organizations from around the world.
SmartWood
– SmartWood
is the oldest and most extensive certification
program in the world. SmartWood’s purpose
is to improve the effectiveness of responsible
forestry in conserving bio-diversity and providing
equity for local communities, fair treatment to
workers, and creating incentives for businesses
so that they can benefit economically from responsible
forestry practices.
The U.S.
Department of Agriculture Forest Service
– A Federal agency that manages public lands
in national forests and grasslands. The Forest
Service is also the largest forestry research
organization in the world, and provides technical
and financial assistance to state and private
forestry agencies.
California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board (CARB) - The mission of this organization is to promote and protect public health, welfare and ecological resources through effective and efficient reduction of air pollutants.
